An Interesting Week!

Started out a nice Sunday out with Joe that ended up in me spending all of Sunday night up sick. After taking a sick day Monday to recover and sleep, things began to look up and kept doing so!

First, over the holidays, my laptop, Marius, tried to develop a caffeine habit which turned out to be almost fatal to it. But thanks to a wonderful tech guy in town that works from home, I was able to get Marius fixed at a whole lot less than I thought it would be! So Marius is back with me and running fine!



Also this week, the McGonagall hat I found on sale (half of what everone else was selling it for) and the Athena (Professor McGonagall's wand from the Whimsic Alley Phoenix Collection arrived and both were absolutely awesome! Great deals and well made.





With the money I had put away and did not have to spend on repairing Marius, I found really good deal on decent new digital so should cure my fuzzy photo ills and will be hear shortly again thanks to Ebay.
My Phoenix Rising Registration has transferred and confirmed and I've taken the sorting quiz and now impatiently
calmly wait for their reply (*runs off to check email yet again, returns*). Tried to keep myself occupied with coming up with a fractured Phoenix Rising version of the "Pina Colada (Escape) song"!
And I've completed yet another Molly Weasley sweater for another friend and it will be making its way to her Monday when I get to the post office. Think she'll like it?



And a book release date...but not sure how I feel. Looking forward to new book. So close to the movie release.... wish we could have savored each moment more.

Also made a trip to Goodwill in Fort Smith yesterday and found a nice longsleeve black turtleneck and long black skirt for McGonagall's 'dress' now to just get my sewing machine fixed so I can make her green robe!

And along with the Molly Sweater, kept busy this week working on a new craft for a swap I'm in and made a few other things as well as you can see! Good thing I know a couple of other Ravenclaws :)

SQUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Day Yesterday!

Yesterday was a complete squee day. The icy weather held off and I was able to drive to Fort Smith to meet up with Rosemary and Kelly of Fangirlish podcasts for some time together. This is not something that happens often because I am the halfway point between these two over a distance of about 600 miles. But they had a surprise for me and treated me to the movie Eragon and dinner at Bravo's -- a wonderful Italian restaurant on Rogers Avenue! Good traditional style Italian cooking, great service and atmosphere.

Having read the book and heard from others, I think it helped quite a bit that I did not go in expecting the movie to follow the book. They did change things. However, on it's own, as just a dragon saga, it was very good. Great flight scenes and Sapphira as a baby dragon was awesome!

It seems that a bank underestimates the quantity of knitters there are in this country ...... in this world. Some very creative ladies at Blue Moon Fiber Arts came up with a package for a sock club. This was not a new idea just for this year but had been something they sold previous years.

This bank took it upon themselves to decide that this could not be a real moneymaking business venture but a scam and you can read the gorey details in the blog of a famed Canadian knitter and published author.

It amazes me that the bank could think that there are so few knitters out there that would want to buy yarn and even have it come with the pattern as well. Obviously that's why there are no yarn stores around this nation.^_- I have to wonder, as did the blogger's sister, would this have happened to a male owned business?

Support Blue Moon Fiber Arts if at all possible. Knitter or crocheter? Order yarn, pattern, books. Not a crafter? Surely someone you love is and they will be having a birthday won't they? And spouse and significant others, if your partner knits or crochets, you know all too well how much they love yarn....contribute to their stash.

About 80 miles from here is the nicest, most authentic UK Style pub ever -- "Kelt's" Since hubby had to work for Halloween/Samhain, we took off and spent the Sunday before at Kelt's for Brunch. Delicious food. Wonderful celtic harpist throughout the afternoon. It could not have been better
